The Michelin Guide 
This is a legendary guide which lists only the cream of the crop! The red book comes out in the first week of March and it awards restaurants between one and three stars, and they are coveted. Getting one, or one more, can create a legend; losing one can result in significant heartbreak. Guides available for France started in 1900, Britain started in 1911 and New York started in 2006.

Zagat
Zagat is another famous guide which lists the best restaurants to dine in around the world. There are many other categories they review including hotels and nightlife. Awards
The James Beard Foundation
James Beard is known as the father of American gastronomy. Throughout his life he set the highest standards and served as a mentor to new talent until his death in 1985. The awards are held on the first Monday in May to celebrate Beard’s birthday as well as the finest chefs and restaurants amongst many other culinary categories.  It is a very prestigious honour to win an award.

Acorn Awards
The Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of industry professionals under the age of 30 who go above and beyond the call of duty in their every day roles.
